In the context of kimono, haori, and old Japanese fabrics, the term refers to
"Antique" generally refers to pieces that date from between the 1910s and 1940s.
originated – that is, about 70 to 100 years ago.
All forms of antiques have one thing in common:
Old things possess a power that touches the heart.
often without a clear reason.
They transcend time and speak to our feelings in a subtle way.
In modern times, technologies have advanced significantly,
And the manufacturing world has also made great strides.
Lifestyles have changed,
Our world has become more comfortable and efficient.
In contrast, there is a time when
where there were no practical aids yet.
To make something back then meant,
Knowledge, experience, dedication
and above all, to dedicate a lot of time.
Antique kimonos and Japanese fabrics were entirely handmade –
from sewing to dyeing and patterns
...including embroidery.
Today it is almost impossible,
even with the same materials and work processes,
to create something exactly the same again.
These pieces could only have been created during that time,
in that place and through the hands of those people.
To me, they are truly unique individuals.
What fascinates me most about antique kimonos and Japanese fabrics is
is their color world.
Although many colors are used,
They appear surprisingly harmonious
and convey a sense of gentleness and naturalness.
as strength or volume.
Then there is the time itself –
Something that cannot be replaced by anything else.
It gives the colors and texture of the fabric
depth and character
which are almost impossible to put into words.
When I come across an antique kimono or fabric,
It is not his condition that attracts me first,
but patterns and colors.
Sometimes I even feel towards signs of age,
which could be described as wear and tear
a special affection.
Naturally, a good condition is desirable.
But every antique fabric has its own story.
and the time he lived through.
I find all of this deeply endearing.
Of course, vintage kimonos also have their own
as well as modern, contemporary kimonos and fabrics
their own beauty
and a special sophistication of its era.
Tastes differ,
And what touches the heart varies from person to person.
Nevertheless, it is precisely the antique pieces that are
which have a long history
and their number is limited.
With each passing year
They will decrease slightly.
This rarity gives them
their weight and their special value.
You don't come across pieces like these very often.
But when you encounter a kimono,
where you feel: “That’s him”,
takes it in his hands and carries it on his own body,
A world opens up,
who can only broker antiques.
It is an experience,
which goes far beyond pictures and words.
It doesn't matter,
whether you already know this world
or are just discovering Japanese antiques –
I cordially invite you,
to take a look into this special world.
Gradually I will
only present those pieces,
that have truly stayed in my heart.
Perhaps it's among them
also a piece,
that belongs to you.
