      Care Guide

      Care Instructions:

      • As a general rule, avoid washing or cleaning whenever possible. After wearing, air out the garment in the shade. If you notice any storage odors, we recommend repeating this several times before considering cleaning.
      • Clean only when necessary: Please consult a professional cleaner beforehand. Professional dry cleaning may be an alternative to washing with water, but it also carries risks for delicate vintage textiles.
      • Do not machine wash. Hand washing may also damage the fabric.
      • Iron only with great care, as heat and steam may alter the fabric.

      Description

Antique haori with vertical stripes in pink and violet, presumably from the 1920s to 1930s.
The design is reminiscent of meisen and kasuri fabrics, while the slightly muted violet evokes the depth of old traditional dyes. The fine irregularities and the soft radiance of the fabric clearly convey the character of the craftsmanship of that era.

This is not a purely classical pattern. Rather, the gently blurring oval shapes have an almost modern, graphic effect and appear surprisingly avant-garde for their time.

The lining features a large cloud motif in vermilion and natural white, embodying the typical Japanese aesthetic of expressing beauty in hidden details. It is not showy luxury, but a quiet, refined "iki" character—that elegant Japanese form of understated style consciousness—that defines this piece.
The natural aging and slight fading of the colors give the haori a soft, atmospheric depth that only true antiques possess.

The fabric shows overall abrasion, weakened threads, and small holes, making the delicate quality of old silk visible.
Of course, the fabric also has great potential for remake or textile projects, but the fact that this haori has survived to this day in its original form is an essential part of its value.

A piece for those who are looking not just for perfection, but who appreciate the special aesthetic, atmosphere, and transience of genuine Japanese antiques.

*There are age-related signs of wear such as fabric abrasion and small holes on both the outer fabric and the lining.

*Antique and older vintage haori can show age-related signs of wear. Visible flaws are described as accurately as possible and documented photographically.

Even though the fabric is generally well preserved, it may be more delicate than modern textiles due to its age. Therefore, please avoid strong pulling, friction, and tight fits.

Please consider when purchasing that these are older or antique one-of-a-kind items.
