      Description

This antique Japanese long haori, likely dating from the 1920s to the 1940s, captivates with its particularly charming and playful color scheme.

At first glance, its delicate, almost childlike appearance is somewhat reminiscent of the color palette of historical children's kimonos. The deep rose-red to reddish-purple ground is enlivened by bright light blue cloud shapes and white, blue, and pink plum blossoms. It is precisely this unusual color combination that gives the haori its expressive, decorative character, so typical of many pre-war pieces.

The arrangement of the branches and blossoms also clearly recalls classic Japanese Ume motifs. Particularly appealing is the strong blue that repeatedly emerges between the white and pink blossoms, giving the traditional pattern a playful, almost modern touch.

The fabric is additionally adorned with a fine woven ground pattern that subtly appears depending on the light. The surface is not highly glossy but rather calm and soft – this restrained texture emphasizes the special antique character of the piece.

The lining is also exquisitely designed. It picks up similar hues but features a distinctly more geometric composition with floral elements in pink, red, yellow, and white. This creates an exciting contrast to the exterior without making the overall impression chaotic. Front and back complement each other in a very harmonious way.

Despite its playful appearance, this haori can be styled in many ways. With black trousers or black boots, it looks surprisingly clean and modern, while over a dress, it highlights its romantic and feminine side more strongly.

An antique long haori with an exceptionally charming color world and a lot of personality. A piece that looks familiar at first glance yet is rarely found in this combination – especially beautiful for those who appreciate the playful yet elegant side of antique Japanese clothing.

*There are stains on the sleeve openings and in places as shown in the photos, and slight chafing on the fabric.

*The small white dots are part of the pattern and not holes.
Antique and older vintage haori may show age-related signs of wear. Visible imperfections are described as accurately as possible and documented with photographs. Please consider that these are older or antique unique items when purchasing.
