This particularly charming antique Meisen haori likely dates from the 1930s to the 1950s.
Round floral motifs in orange, pink, and teal are spread across the black background, their colors seeming to blend softly into one another. This creates a very modern, almost graphic impression that immediately catches the eye, even from a distance. The slightly blurred contours and color gradients are typical of the unique aesthetic of Meisen.
Due to its age, the fabric is relatively soft and comfortable to wear, yet still retains the light firmness characteristic of Meisen. This allows the haori to drape beautifully while maintaining a clean silhouette.
The lining is particularly delightful as well. Red and white flowers are spread across the entire inside on a pink background. Although the color scheme creates a strong contrast to the black exterior, it harmonizes surprisingly well with the overall appearance. When the lining flashes at the sleeves, it creates a particularly lovely and playful accent.
