      Description

Antique Japanese Meisen Haori, presumably from the 1920s to 1930s.

This Haori features an expressive botanical pattern on a warm rust-red-brown background. Large green leaves and shimmering white to yellow blossoms are spread across the entire surface, giving the piece a very modern yet timeless appeal.

The fabric surface has a slightly textured, irregular weave. The contours of the pattern appear soft and somewhat blurred, similar to Kasuri textiles. This creates a lively depth rather than a flat printed effect, which is characteristic of antique Japanese textiles.

Personally, I particularly like the muted color scheme of this piece. The rusty red, the soft green, and the light blossoms appear calm, warm, and elegant. One can feel the passage of time without the Haori losing its freshness.

The lining is simply in a delicate pink. This choice of color suggests that the Haori was originally made for a young woman. The inner lining has some stains, and there are one or two small holes in the outer fabric, presumably due to age-related wear. Overall, however, it is a very atmospheric piece that embodies the charm and beauty of a genuine antique garment.

Today, the Haori can be wonderfully worn as a light jacket, for example, casually with jeans. A special piece for anyone who loves Japanese textiles, vintage fashion, and wearable history.

*The inner lining shows dirt, especially in the sleeve area.

*There is a small hole in the outer fabric in the shoulder area, presumably due to age-related abrasion of the fabric.

*Meisen fabrics are popular in Japan today because of their retro-modern patterns. However, they often have a certain stiffness and structure. This Haori is comparatively soft, but still drapes rather firmly and not completely softly flowing. Please consider this before purchasing.
