Description
This classic black vintage haori probably dates from the 1950s to the 1970s.
The black outer fabric features woven patterns with floral motifs and shapes reminiscent of flowing water. This gives the haori a calm and elegant, yet also deep and noble appearance. The black basic pattern in the fabric is particularly beautiful: depending on the light, the patterns subtly emerge, giving the haori a fine, lively structure.
The inner lining is particularly impressive. Large fan motifs in red and orange are visible on a light background, along with flowers reminiscent of chrysanthemums and peonies, and small floral motifs that look like hagi, Japanese bush clover. The contrast between the calm black outer fabric and the colorful inner lining is very expressive.
This haori displays the Japanese aesthetic of Uramasari: a beauty that is not immediately visible from the outside, but only reveals itself when opened, in movement, or on the inside. This kind of hidden elegance is typical of many traditional Japanese garments.
On the back, there is also a Kamon, a Japanese family crest. It emphasizes the traditional character of the haori and gives it a special, formal aura.
Worn over a dress, with denim, or over simple black clothing, it creates an elegant and individual vintage look. A special piece for lovers of Japanese textiles and vintage fashion.
*The inner lining shows age-related signs of wear overall.
