Description
The pattern consists of small, kasuri-inspired motifs reminiscent of stylized flowers, distributed rhythmically across the fabric. At first glance, the kimono appears playful and delicate, but the black background simultaneously gives it an elegant depth and a distinctive vintage expression.
Both the outer fabric and the lining appear to be made of silk. The use of slightly textured yarn (similar to Tsumugi silk) and age-related, fine napping creates a pleasantly matte, soft feel – quite different from the smooth, shiny surface of modern silk. This texture is typical for many everyday vintage kimonos and emphasizes their authentic character.
The rather small-scale pattern looks modern and cool at the same time, making the kimono versatile for both smaller and larger people to style – whether classically with an obi or casually worn open.
The lining is in a warm natural tone, while the lower hem (hakkake) is in a strong red. This contrast creates a beautiful accent to the black outer fabric and harmoniously completes the overall look.
A charming piece with a successful blend of playful lightness and retro-modern elegance – ideal for lovers of vintage kimonos.
