      Description

This formal black vintage haori probably dates from the 1950s to the 1970s and captivates with an exceptionally rare graphic design featuring stylized small birds and fine white lines.

The wave-like line pattern is reminiscent of the traditional Japanese Seigaiha motif, but here it appears highly abstracted and modern in its interpretation - almost like sound waves on a record or a minimalist drawing from Mid-Century Modern art. It is precisely this blend of traditional Japanese aesthetics and graphic modernity that makes this piece so special.

The small birds are also not depicted naturalistically but are deliberately simplified and designed almost like a graphic symbol. The strong contrast between deep black and the fine white lines gives the haori a calm, minimalist, and at the same time very artistic look.

A special piece even for collectors who already own classic black haori.
It can be worn elegantly and formally, as well as in a modern everyday style - for example, with denim, monochrome outfits, or as a light coat over a dress.

An exceptional example of Japanese vintage textile art with a modern, almost timeless presence.

*The inner lining shows age-related stains.
