Description
This is a rare antique haori, presumably dating from the late Taishō to the early Shōwa period (approx. 1920s–1930s).
The fabric is finely and densely woven (plain weave) and drapes very smoothly. Although it is silk, it has a pleasantly matte, slightly cotton-like, and moist feel. It may be a type of silk.
The color scheme in turquoise, violet and yellow is extremely distinctive, yet not too conspicuous – stylish and modern at the same time.
The lining features a playful leaf pattern, typical of antique pieces, giving the haori a special, modern touch. This also makes it perfect for everyday wear, like a light coat over Western clothing.
An exceptional texture and a design that is not often encountered – a very valuable collector's item.
