      Description

An antique haori, presumably from the 1930s to 1940s. The fabric is very soft and comfortable, with a warm, reddish salmon tone as the base color. Over this, a dense pattern of flowers, tendrils, and leaves in a very dark, almost black hue.

The design appears distinctly exotic and is reminiscent of Sarasa – ornamental textiles with influences from India, Persia, or even Western decorative patterns. It is precisely this somewhat foreign, opulent plant ornamentation that gives the haori a special allure.

However, the lining is particularly fascinating. There appears, almost like a surprising counterpoint, a very Japanese-looking motif with small figures or Dōji. While the lining's color palette remains in a related tonal range, its style clearly differs from the outer fabric. It is precisely this contrast between the exterior and interior that makes the special charm of old haori.

Despite its antique character, this haori can be combined very well with modern clothing. Even worn loosely over a simple outfit, it appears elegant, individual, and at the same time very stylish.

*The lining shows overall signs of dirt. Additionally, there are small holes in places, caused by friction.

Antique and older vintage haori may show age-related signs of wear. Visible irregularities are described as accurately as possible and documented with photographs. Please note when purchasing that these are older or antique unique pieces.
