Description
This kimono dates from the early Shōwa period (around the 1930s), but at the latest from the early 1940s.
The slightly dry, reddish-brown base tone possesses a depth and restraint that radiates a unique, typically Japanese elegance – difficult to put into words, but clearly perceptible.
Instead of elaborate embroidery, the Shibori fabric features light and clearly drawn lines.
The motifs are not overly abstract and convey a subtlety rarely found in modern kimonos – a design that fascinates in an unobtrusive way.
The crane motif, a symbol of Japan, which is distributed across the entire surface, never appears intrusive due to its simple design, but rather exceptionally balanced.
At first glance, the kimono may appear understated, but for connoisseurs it reveals a quiet, subtle sensuality.
The outer fabric shows signs of wear in the form of friction stains.
However, these also give the piece the authentic look of a genuine antique textile.
Simple in appearance, but expressive in its effect.
A kimono that appears understated at first glance, yet remains memorable –
Ideal for people who appreciate a simple yet stylish appearance.
The aesthetic sensibilities of the middle generation, in particular, find a natural expression in this piece.
