Description
It is a black kimono with an eba pattern, which probably dates from the late Meiji to the late Taishō period.
The design features motifs such as the phoenix, treasure symbols (Takarazukushi), and waves, arranged in a compositional structure reminiscent of paintings or Japanese folding screens. This gives the pattern a particularly rich and expressive appearance.
The designs are embellished in places with gold embroidery, which – used sparingly – exudes a refined elegance and craftsmanship. This is a high-quality, hand-worked Eba pattern.
Five family crests (Kamons) on the back and on both fronts of the sleeves indicate a formal kimono of high rank.
The lining is a bright red, typical of the Taishō period, which emphasizes the historical character of this textile.
* The black base color has faded gently overall due to age and has an even patina.
* Please note: This is an antique item, therefore signs of age are possible. Thank you for your understanding.
