Description
1950s-1960s vintage Haori in delicate wakakusa green.
This Haori captivates with its soft, Japanese-inspired shade of green, reminiscent of fresh young leaves—a surprisingly rare color that simultaneously exudes a serene elegance of the Showa era. Even the inner lining was not kept in pure white, but chosen in subtly muted tones, giving the entire piece an exceptionally harmonious appearance.
The pattern evokes the traditional Japanese "Ryūsui-mon" (流水文), a stylized flowing water motif, considered a symbol of good fortune in Japan. The gentle lines convey a sense of calm, purity, and the quiet changing of the seasons.
Scattered among the flowing forms are small blossoms, reminiscent of chrysanthemums or cherry blossoms, lending the Haori a quiet, poetic beauty—almost like a spring landscape by the water.
The restrained design of the inner lining is also particularly beautiful. Instead of densely filling the pattern, space and lightness were consciously preserved. This Japanese aesthetic of "less is more" gives the Haori a subtle elegance and showcases the refined sensibility of traditional Japanese clothing.
Paired with white dresses or light trousers, this Haori beautifully unfolds its gentle coloring and transparent lightness, and can be wonderfully integrated into modern everyday wear.
