Description
This vintage haori likely dates from the 1950s to 1970s and features a decorative botanical pattern.
Unlike classic Japanese auspicious motifs such as pine, bamboo, or plum blossoms, this haori is designed with a Sarasa-inspired plant pattern. Vines, blossoms, and leaves are spread across the entire fabric, creating a lively, flowing design.
Sarasa patterns originally came to Japan through influences from India, Southeast Asia, and Persia, and were later adopted into Japanese textiles and kimono patterns. This gives the haori a Japanese, decorative, and slightly exotic feel at the same time.
Blue, green, rust red, and other subtle color accents appear on the light background. The pattern is lively and expressive, but not too loud, making the haori very easy to combine with Western clothing. Worn over a dress, with denim, or over simple clothing, it instantly creates a special and stylish look.
The fabric has a fine, slightly crêped texture and feels like Kinsha silk. It is soft and supple to the touch and drapes pleasantly light. This allows for a beautiful experience of the special textile quality of a Japanese haori.
As this is a vintage item, age-related signs of wear are present. Please understand these marks as part of the character of an old textile.
*The light yellow lining on the sleeves shows age-related discoloration and stains.
*There are small stains and slight discolorations in places on the collar and along the edges of the outer fabric.
