Description
A 1960s-1970s kimono in a Kasuri-style, crafted with fine jacquard weaving.
Although the pattern is reminiscent of traditional Kasuri techniques, it is most likely precise machine weaving.
The fabric is highly detailed, featuring an extraordinary pattern that evokes architectural motifs or a stylized, exotic cityscape. The coloring appears subdued and slightly muted, yet simultaneously possesses a playful, almost graphic vibrancy.
The lining is in a subtle tone, while the hem (Hakkake) is executed in a reddish hue that is also found in the outer fabric, lending a beautiful harmony to the overall appearance.
As a casual kimono, this piece is wonderfully suitable for a variety of combinations – both classic with an Obi and modern when worn over Western clothing. This opens up a wide range of styling possibilities.
The collar is designed as a Hiro-eri (wide collar) and features hooks (Fooku) so that it can be folded and secured when worn.
Even for wearers who already have experience with kimonos, this piece is a lovely addition for everyday wear or relaxed occasions.
*The inner lining shows age-related signs of wear overall.
